We welcome everyone.

Village Baptist Church

At Village Baptist Church, we believe God is on the move — calling us to join the Holy Spirit in transforming and reconciling our community and the world. Our hope is that everyone who connects with us will experience God’s overwhelming love and grace. However you found us, you are welcome here as we grow together into God’s vision for a Beloved Community.

“And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love.”

1 Corinthians 13:13

  • Finding Your Way

Village is located in South Bowie not far from Bowie Town Center. Our address is 1950 Mitchellville Road, Bowie, Maryland 20716. The parking lot has plenty of space, including handicapped spaces. Our building is fully accessible. Inside the front door there is a coat room to the left and rest rooms down either hallway. The sanctuary is straight ahead. An usher will give you a bulletin and answer any questions you might have. There is a table near the entry with information for visitors.

  • How We Treat Visitors

As our motto says, "It takes a Village. Let us be yours." We will not ask you to stand or do anything special. We do provide Visitor Cards and a digital connect if you would like to tell us more about yourself. Village tries to have a family atmosphere, and we treat our visitors as welcome guests.

  • Worship Service

The worship services are described in detail in the bulletins. They include Passing of the Peace, prayer time, songs, an offering, special music, a children's story, scripture reading, sermon and Life of the Church announcements. Although we do "pass the plate" and offer digital giving, we do not expect visitors to contribute unless they feel so moved. All worship activities at Village are open to guests as well as members.

  • Children

Village has childcare with professional caregivers for younger children. You can find the Nursery suite, down the hall to the left as you enter the building. Older children are welcome in the worship service, which includes activity bags and a children's story. There is a special children's church time in a separate room after the Children's Story for those 4-10 years old.

  • Dress Code

We are a "come as you are" church. Wear whatever is comfortable. You will see Villagers wearing everything from casual jeans and shirts to dresses and suits.

  • Other Activities

Worship is just one part of what happens at Village. We offer Bible Study, mission projects, fellowship activities, music programs, and more.

Our Vision

We believe it takes a Village to...

Worship God

We nurture our faith through meaningful, soul-restoring worship that glorifies God.

Grow in Faith

We deepen our understanding of our faith story by creating spaces for spiritual growth, reflection, and dialogue.

Build the Kingdom of God

We serve with ministry partners locally and globally to care for and offer a place of peace, safety, and support for our neighbors and those in need.

Raise a Child

We seek to provide engaging age-appropriate ministries that support faith formation from childhood through adulthood.

Nurture a Thriving Beloved Community

We put love into action by pursuing justice and building relationships inside and outside the church.

Provide Mutual Care

We stand by each other through life’s challenges, we will respect and tolerate differences of opinion, be ready to forgive in the spirit with which God continually forgives us, watch over one another in prayer, and aid one another in times of distress and illness
